Instructions

Today you will be searching the web for exciting math activities.  At each site you will be able to solve a few math problems or play a game before moving on to the next activity.  At any time after today’s session, you will be able to access all of these sites and do numerous activities.

THE TREASURE HUNT BEGINS

Visit www.schoolexpress.com

Go to Math On Line and do 5 self-graded questions for each operation.  Record your scores in your math journal with today’s date.

Visit www.scholastic.com

Go to Games and Contests, then to I SPY.  Do I SPY Puzzler level 1.  Go back to create a card and send me a card telling me what other games and puzzles on this site are of interest to you.  Send the card to moehlek@Schenectady.k12.ny.us

Visit www.coolmath.com

Go to calculators and calculate you G.P.A. based on the grades on your last report card.  Recalculate your G.P.A. based on raising each grade by three points.  Write the information in your math journal with today’s date.  How much did your G.P.A. change?  How hard would it be for you to raise your G.P.A. to that level?

Visit www.mathcats.com

Go to Math Cats Explore and click on OBBL then do the Architecture Block activity.  Write your findings in your math journal with today’s date.  Go to Math Cats home page and click on math games.  Play Math Cats.  How good are you?

Conclusion

After you have visited each site and completed the appropriate activities write a three-paragraph reflection of the Treasure Hunt.  Topics to consider include any problems you faced, any parts that were too easy or too difficult, any sites which you would visit again, which activities would you like to try the next time we are in the lab?
