1b. Goals of the project. Content This boils down to one, or at most a few, sentences that say "What do we want this product for?" In other words, the real reason that the product is being developed. Motivation There is a real danger of this purpose getting lost along the way. As the development effort heats up, and the customer and developers discover more and more what is possible, it may well be that the system as it is being constructed wanders away from the original goals. This is a bad thing unless there is some deliberate act by the client to change the goals. It may be necessary to appoint a person to be "custodian of the goals", but it is probably sufficient to make the goals public, and periodically remind the developers of it. It should be mandatory to acknowledge the goals at every review session. Fit Criterion An objective measure that will enable testing to determine if the goal has been met by the product.
