This monograph outlines concepts and procedures needed to support the creation of carbon contracts and projects for farmers, particularly for farmers in developing countries where incentives to adopt sustainable farming practices are needed most. The authors identify three steps to creating carbon contracts (1) define the contract or project areas for soil carbon sequestration, (2) estimate potential for soil C sequestration, and (3) verify compliance with contracts.
